A Privacy Component is an architectural building block of the EIRA Technical view - infrastructure supporting the Technical interoperability layer of the European Interoperability Framework.
It is included in the Enabler grouping Infrastructure Privacy Enablers.

Privacy Component is a specialisation of Application Component that implements the functionalities of storing, securing, anonymising, pseudonymising, rectifying and erasing personal data.

The Privacy Component ABB is salient for interoperability because "security and privacy are primary concerns in the provision of public services" (EIF) and, as stated in EIF Recommendation #eif15 - Ensure secure and trustworthy data exchange: "Define a common security and privacy framework and establish processes for public services to ensure secure and trustworthy data exchange between public administrations and in interactions with citizens and businesses."
