Volume of production per labour unit (measured in constant USD), by classes of farming/pastoral/ forestry enterprise size

This indicator is proposed as an indicator for Sustainable development Target 02.3 By 2030, double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers, in particular women, indigenous peoples, family farmers, pastoralists and fishers, including through secure and equal access to land, other productive resources and inputs, knowledge, financial services, markets and opportunities for value addition and non-farm employment.

This indicator is included in the list of illustrative indicators on the right to life (Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 3).


FAO and the World bank. Data to compute the indicator for agricultural producers are currently available for nine developing countries through LSMS-ISA. When the AGRIS program will be in operation, indicators will be published through FAOSTAT.

Νational enterprise surveys. For agriculture, specialized farm surveys , or integrated household surveys including an agricultural module already exist (eg., LSMS-ISA, Integrated Surveys for Agriculture) FAO and the World Bank are working to define a new Agricultural and Rural Integrated Survey (AGRIS) program, that may be used as a source of data to inform this and many others indicators of relevance for the SDG that depend on farm/enterprise level information.
